[All] Update on Nuclear repository by Huron: Good news

Glad to see that you are tracking nuclear energy developments Lulu — and at least supplementing our local media.

I am essentially against nuclear energy as an energy source for all the usual reasons, But, I worry about certain catastrophic events such as the eruption of a super volcano. e.g. Yellowstone Park, or a large meteor strike. Such events could greatly decrease the e-efficiency of solar cells and wind turbines (dust in “gears”) in a near-future (hopefully) RE based civilization.

“Safer” sources of nuclear e are in the R&D stage but potential nuclear waste storage problems seem still be with us  — if even at a lower level of risk,  e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_Affordable_Fission_Engine & http://www.technologyreview.com/news/512321/safer-nuclear-power-at-half-the-price.

Beside super e-conservation, deep geothermal might be a big part of the answer.
