It is important that you express your view of the Waterloo Region lightrail
transit plan. See article below from the Kitchener Post regarding a survey
currently being taken. Please go to the link below to do so. It will only
take you a couple of minutes because there are only two questions. The
survey is only for residents of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo.

Survey tracks LRT opinions

A new online survey is giving people the opportunity to share their opinion
about the region¹s light rail transit project.

Waterloo resident Ernst Friedel believes it would have been easy for the
region to do one before approving the project. However, he wouldn¹t say
whether he¹s for or against the plan.

³I won¹t say because I don¹t want to influence people,² he said.

Friedel posted the survey at https://surveymonkey.com/s/HMDHY25 in
mid-December and it will be available for two months.

³I hope it¹s an indication of what people are thinking and gives people a
chance to voice their opinion,² he said.

³The biggest complaint I am hearing is not so much for or against it, it is
ŒWe were not asked.¹²

As of Monday morning, opinions for and against the project were virtually
split, with approximately 500 votes.

Some feedback from outside the region, including votes from as far away as
California, will be omitted in the final tally, Friedel said.

³You have to live in Kitchener, Waterloo or Cambridge,² he said.

The vast majority of feedback for the survey from within the region has come
from Kitchener and Waterloo, probably because Friedel initially sent an
e-mail to a list with recipients primarily from those cities. The survey
allows people to explain their rationale and doesn¹t aim to serve as a
petition.

Friedel said he¹s already heard from some politicians who are in support of
the survey.
