[All] Fw: River Road Extension From King Street to Manitou Drive, Kitchener ­ Notice attached

Greetings all
I will be out of the country March 4th.  I have recently received a report from C. Gosslin and EEAC.  The Region has still not answered a couple of key questions.  
1. Have they sought permission from any Ministry to destroy parts of 2 Provincially Significant Wetland (PSW)?  Why not?
2. Has any Ministry granted the Region such authority?

A corollary to this is why are they proceding without such authority and especially when the deign for egress from Old Hidden Valley Rd. to the new extension could be eliminated and thus protect the PSW?

Sidewalks and walking trails beside both sides of the extension has added more destruction to natural habitat.

The Region has st ill not advised me how they intend to protect the 12 Species at Risk that are to be found in the area.

No one seems to note that the extension only relieves traffic on Fairway from Manitou/Courtland to Best Buy and that then traffic is forced back onto Fairway for about 100 metres for those who wish to use # 8 to get to the 401.  I cannot accept that this is good planning or engineering.

Thanks to this forum for permitting me to explain part of the problems with the River Rd. Extension.

That is right before the light rail transit item, which is supposed to start at about 3 in the same committee. Sounds like an important afternoon and evening.
