Hi everyone

The Auditor General of Canada was reviewing the NEB process regarding Northern Gateway to see how effective the public process was in terms of protocols and procedures of the National Energy Board. The process has been subject to a high measure of scrutiny. Many groups and individuals who participated in the public process were spied on by CSIS without just cause.

When CSIS and the RCMP spied on law abiding individuals and community groups opposed to the Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline project, and reported those findings to oil industry officials, they irreparably damaged the trust that should exist between the people and our government. These actions are illegal, and a clear threat to free democratic participation.

In response, the BC Civil Liberties Association has created a templates for folks to use where they can fill a form under Access to Information Act to secure all data as gathered by the RCMP, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), Natural Resources Canada, the National Energy Board etc.  Each form costs $5 to be paid to the Receiver General of Canada in exchange for the disclosure of all correspondences mentioning one's name. The process is very easy, the templates are posted on-line and just takes minutes to complete if anyone is interested.  Here is the link: http://bccla.org/dont-spy-on-me/10388-2/

If your data has been shared with anyone in the oil sector, you have the right to know about it. I am doing this. I encourage others to do the same.

Also on the site is the following quick sign petition calling for the protection of privacy for participants of public processes. Please sign on.
