Subject: The Climate Action Plan is going to Councils! (Nov. 4, Nov. 18, Dec. 3)
Hi REEP team and Board members,
As you've heard Mary Jane and I mention a number of times recently, Waterloo Region is on the cusp of something big: our first-ever community action plan on climate change is being considered for endorsement by City and Regional Councils in November and December of this year. The full final fantastic plan is now available online.
As local sustainability leaders and REEPers, your voice counts. To show your support of City and Regional Councils’ endorsement of the Climate Action Plan, we strongly encourage you to:
1. Attend a Council meeting to be in the audience when the plan is considered for approval (please double-check closer to the date as meeting times are subject to change):
a.. Cambridge City Council, Monday, November 4th, 7:00pm
b.. Waterloo City Council, Monday, November 4th, 7:00pm
c.. Kitchener City Council, Monday, November 18th, 7:00pm
d.. Regional Council, Tuesday, December 3rd, time TBA
2. Register as a delegation to speak to Council in support of the Climate Action Plan. (let me know if you are seriously thinking of doing this).
3. Spread the word by passing on this message via social media or other networks (example tweets are provided at the link above).
4. Write an email or letter of support for the Climate Action Plan and send it to a local Councillor or Mayor.
5. Consider adding the following tagline to your emails: Show your supportthis November for City and Regional Councils endorsing the Climate Action Plan for Waterloo Region!
With this Climate Action Plan acting as a direction for our collective efforts, Waterloo Region will be set to reduce GHG emissions by 6% from our 2010 levels by 2020, while at the same time improving the quality of life across the region.
This achievement for our community would not have been possible without the critical leadership of the REEP Green Solutions organization!
Let's have a great REEP showing at these Council meetings!!
Have a great weekend everyone,
