March Against Monsanto is a global call to action aimed at informing the
public, calling into question long-term health risks of genetically
modified foods, and demanding that GMO products be labeled so that
consumers can make informed decisions. We will be marching alongside
concerned citizens and organizations in more than 250 cities, throughout
36 countries, across 6 continents! It's time to take back our food!

Why we march:

  * Protect our food supply from genetic pollution/contamination
  * Support and protect local and family farms
  * Protect our environment
  * Promote organic solutions
  * Demand labelling of GMO products
  * Explore and expose the cronyism between big business and the government
  * Bring accountability to those responsible for the corruption
  * Inform the public about the long term health risks of genetically
    modified food

We aim to make this event as accessible as possible - if you have needs
that we can accommodate in any way, please feel free to contact us at
any time! We will meet up at City Hall at 2:00pm, march to Gordon and
Wellington, then return to City Hall. This route is short and
wheelchair accessible, and there will be an opportunity for folks who
prefer not to march to rally at City Hall while others take to the streets.

Following the march portion of the event, there will be an "open mic"
opportunity back at City Hall for communtiy members and organizations to
voice their concerns surrounding GMOs. Feel free to speak up (in a
family-friendly manner)!

*What to bring:*

  * BANNERS/SIGNS –- Do you have a message you want heard? Paint/draw it
    on a banner/sign and bring it! We will have a community sign-making
    day prior to the event, keep your eyes peeled!
  * WATER -- We will be marching, bring your water bottle to keep hydrated!
  * NOISEMAKERS -- Drums are nice, so are pots and pans :)
  * CAMERAS –- Feel free to bring your cameras and take as many photos
    as you can
  * YOUR LOVE! Of democracy, freedom, food, the earth and healthy
    communities!

*What to wear:*

  * Your favorite plant or animal costume
  * Anti-Monsanto/No GMO-themed shirts
  * Or just *Red* - let's be visible :)
