Hello friends,
 
What makes a safe and healthy community? If you think you might have the answer – the City of Kitchener would like to hear from you!
 
The city is looking for people who live or work in Kitchener to volunteer for the Safe & Healthy Community advisory committee (SHCAC). A copy of the Terms of Reference is attached to give you a better idea of what the committee does. In short, this committee gives advice to Council and staff about community health and community safety, as well as develops and carries out projects that enhance both of these areas. 
 
The deadline to apply is January 25, 2013. To apply to the committee, please visit http://www.kitchener.ca/en/insidecityhall/cmtee_brd_recruitment.asp to submit an application form. Appointments will be made on February 25, 2013 with the first meeting to be held March 7, 2013. 
 
I’m emailing you because you are knowledgeable about the social determinants of health and what makes a healthy community – and I know you are well-connected in Kitchener. If you know of anyone who is similarly informed and passionate about community engagement, feel free to forward this invitation on to them!
