Hi GREN... This is the last week to support a ban on these pesticides..
Thanks for any help in moving this to your contacts also.. Norah
TELL THE GOVERNMENT TO BAN BEE-KILLING PESTICIDE
In the spring of 2013, the European Union, after reviewing the
compelling evidence, voted to ban the use of neonicotinoid pesticides.
In September 2013 this is what the Canadian Government said about these
pesticides: *"Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA)
has determined that current agricultural practices related to the use of
neonicotinoid treated corn and soybean seed are affecting the
environment due to their impacts on bees and other pollinators."*
*
*
Now the PMRA needs to hear from you!__***They have*asked*the public to
comment on the use of neonicotinoids. **The original PMRA document can
befound here
<http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/cps-spc/pest/part/consultations/_noi2013-01/noi2013-01-eng.php>.
*_*The comment period ends on *December 12, 2013__._
Tell the PMRA that continued use of neonicotinoid pesticides poses an
unacceptable likelihood of serious harm to honey bees and native
pollinators. Tell them you are concerned about toxic build up in water
and soil. Tell them you want these lethal chemicals removed from use
before the 2014 planting season.
Send your comments by December 12, 2013, to this e-mail address:
pmra.publications at hc-sc.gc.ca <mailto:pmra.publications at hc-sc.gc.ca>*Be
sure to include your full name, your phone number and your complete
mailing or email address in the body of your submission*.
We know that the pesticide manufacturers are asking their allies to
contact the PMRA in support of the continued use of these toxic
pesticides. So it's really important for the PMRA to hear our message
loud and clear: these dangerous pesticides need to be banned. Thanks
for standing up for the pollinators.
