Hi GREN members,
I'm unable to attend tonight's GREN meeting and wanted to give you a brief update about Hidden Valley.
At a meeting with Peter Benninger last December about degradation to ESPA 27 in Hidden Valley, due to ATVs and trucks, he said he was not willing to put red dots, signifying no trespassing, ar any new NO TRESPASSING or NO MOTORIZED VEHICLE signs to replace those that had been removed, unless we (representing the Friends of Hidden Valley) paid for them. Yesterday I made the offer to pay for $100.00 worth of metal signs (about 10), personally, if he gives permission to post them, but haven't heard back from him yet. We're concerned that this is the portion that would be turned over to the Region and he's letting it be degraded. I spoke about this at the March KWFN meeting, and got an offer from a member about getting signs made by the company he works for.

Peter said he used to enjoy Hidden Valley but doesn't now because of the damage done by trespassers. Now he goes up north if he wants to experience nature.
Chris Gosselin says there's nothing he can do because it's private property.
The Governor General's Earth Day comments and the Earth Charter, (link below) which I just learned about recently (thanks Lulu!) are good reasons to want to save Hidden Valley. Please keep it in your thoughts in the next few months, and if you drive around it and get licences of trespassers, please phone Peter Benninger at Coldwell Banker Peter Benninger Realty 519-742-5800 to report them. (His suggestion)

Thanks!

Daphne

CBC Radio to take The Morning Edition off the air as it awaits approval of broadcast application
April 23, 2013, Ottawa - CBC Radio has to take its Waterloo Region local morning show, The Morning Edition, off the air -- it will continue to be available to its listeners online at
http://www.cbc.ca/kitchener-waterloo/. We anticipate that this will be a temporary solution while we await final approval of our broadcast application from the CRTC.

Listeners in the Waterloo Region will continue to be able to tune in to the 89.1 FM frequency for their favourite CBC Radio programs.

CBC filed its application for the Waterloo Region service with the CRTC in June of 2012, a follow-up clarification was submitted in September 2012 and a reply to interventions was filed in December 2012. Approval has not yet been received.

The CBC apologizes to its loyal listeners in Waterloo Region for this unfortunate oversight, upon learning of the situation we moved quickly to rectify it and we hope to be back on the air soon.
