Hi Daphne, Lulu and GREN members,
Great letters from both of you. Lulu, I love the tie in to protection of the species =better wetlands= clean water= impact on jobs!
Also Daphne, great work as well as you continue to hammer away at the negative reporting from some of our reporters.
On November 27 there will be a speciall Council meeting where the Environmental Study Report will be presented to Council, although it will not be ready for public review until well into the spring ( YEAH!!) This will likely be the best opportunity for anyone from the public to speak out against the road and the impact it will have on so many issues! 
 
Today the owner of 500 Stauffer Rd had her property recommended for cultural heritage designation! It now just has to be ratified by Council on Nov. 19 ( this could be difficult because there are a number of Councillors that will want to defer this just like the acceptance of the study.) I have my work cut out on that night as well.
 
My request is that we fill that Council chambers with as many people as we can possibly get! Just like the Boathouse issue we have to send a strong message that this road is not wanted by the taxpaying residents of this city. 
 
Not only will it have a dramatic impact on environmental issues but it will result in increased maintenance costs because of the mitigation, the clear span bridges anticipated to be needed and the ongoing cost of maintaining roads. The City engineers continue to cry about us being behind our road repairs yet they are pushing for this road which will definitely cost over $20M !
 
I hope to see many familiar faces in the gallery that night. If you are interested in speaking, sending emails to Council I will happily assist you in suggestions for items to address. Also if you are on Facebook there is a Facebook site called "Stop Strasburg Road" just do a search when you are on your own Facebook site. The group that started this site wants to get over 200 Likes and many , many more comments.
