In light of the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline to the west coast of B.C., join us in the search for the truth about the impact of the world’s thirstiest oil industry – the Alberta tar sands.“White Water, Black Gold” is an investigative point-of-view documentary about David Lavallee’s journey down the Athabasca River and across western Canada in search of answers about the battle between water and oil. To voice your thoughts on the issue, computers will be available to submit an online official written comment to the National Energy Board’s Joint Review Panel. This panel is currently investigating whether the pipeline, which will cross thousands of rivers and streams, as well as allow tankers to transport oil in the midst of the Great Bear Rainforest, is in the national interest of Canada.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Free admission. Non-students welcome!
