  Registration  is still open for Sustainable Waterloo's first educational forum of the  2011/2012 event season. We hope you can make it!
  
  Educational Forum:  Ontario's Energy Future
  
  The results of  the upcoming Ontario election will have long standing implications for  businesses and individuals who benefit from provincial energy policies that  support their sustainability objectives. To help inform the debate  surrounding the province's energy future, Sustainable Waterloo has  partnered with the David Suzuki Foundation to create Ontario's Energy Future: A Climate Change Perspective. This  report provides an expert review of the leading political parties'  energy and climate change policies.
  
  Join Sustainable  Waterloo at our first educational forum of the 2011/2012 event season where  experts will discuss the report with an audience of business, community, and  political leaders on the importance of energy policy in Ontario.
  
  Copies of Ontario's Energy Future: A Climate Change Perspective will be  distributed at the event.

   Mike Farwell - Business Reporter/Talk Show host, 570 News
 Mike worked at radio stations in Brantford, Salmon Arm, BC, Thunder Bay and Toronto before returning home to Waterloo Region and 570 News. A self-professed news junkie, Mike loves bringing you stories about the people and places in your community. You'll hear his reports on 570 News and he'll also fill in from time to time as a talk show host.

   Milfred Hammerbacher - President, Canadian Solar, Inc.
 With over 23 years of photovoltaic experience, Milfred has managed companies in four countries. Most recently, he spent 12 months in an executive consulting role in China on behalf of Canadian Solar Inc. He has provided leadership in technology, manufacturing and business development areas.  His career has spanned the globe working in four countries giving him great insight into cultural sensitivity and regional business practices. In his current role he is responsible for the new subsidiary of Canadian Solar.  The business scope includes sales, distribution and product development for the Canadian market.
        
    
 
   
 Dr. Jatin Nathwani - Executive Director, Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy
 Dr. Nathwani has extensive experience in the energy sector at the corporate level focusing on strategy, business planning and policy development with contributions to the evolution of the electricity industry structure. His experience includes regulatory affairs, and environmental health and safety fostering innovation through strategic R&D.
 Recently, as a member of the Ontario Smart Grid Forum, he helped shape the vision for the evolution of the Ontario grid. He has also been a contributor to the development of Ontario Power Authority's ‘Integrated Power System Plan' focusing on environment and sustainability.
     
 
   
 Dr. Ian Rowlands - Professor, Department of Environment and Resource Studies, University of Waterloo
 Dr. Rowlands has research and teaching interests in the areas of energy management strategies and policy, international environmental relations and corporate environmentalism. He has served on a number of national and international advisory bodies, including those convened by the International Energy Agency, Natural Resources Canada and the Ontario Power Authority.  His present research activities include his leadership of a multi-partner project supported by the Ontario Centre for Energy entitled ‘Energy Hub Management System:  Enabling and Empowering Energy Managers Through Increased Information and Control.'
