OMB hearing re: Quarries and the Country Side Line on Friday Sept. 9thWaterloo Regional Headquarters starting 10am. Open to the public.
GRCA watershed forum: Last day to register is this Friday Sept 9th Keynote speakers will examine the challenges of moving one of the highest growth areas in Ontario on a path to sustainability. GRCA staff will also present an overview of the process to update the Grand River Water Management Plan.The Forum will be held on Friday Sept. 16 at the GRCA headquarters, 400 Clyde Rd. in Cambridge from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.More information, including online registration, is available at http://www.grandriver.ca/waterforum
Sept. 19: Notice of Formal Public Meeting Concerning the City of Waterloo Official PlanTAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the City of Waterloo will hold a Formal Public Meeting on Monday, September 19, 2011, at a time to be determined, in the Council Chambers, 3rd floor, Waterloo City Centre, 100 Regina Street South, Waterloo, to give the public an opportunity to make representations in respect of the draft City of Waterloo Official Plan.
SEPT   22nd  Highland Quarry Proposal discussion at U of Guelph. The discussion features Carl Cosack from North Dufferin Agricultural and Community Task Force (NDACT) and will focus on Water and Food threats posed by the Highland Quarry proposal in Melacthon. What Happens Now?  The event starts at 7:30pm Thornbrough Rm. 1200. University of Guelph.
September 26th, Canadian National Protest to stop the Keystone Pipeline in OttawaSept. 26th, a national protest in Ottawa will take place to encourage the Canadian government to reject the keystone pipeline. Participants wishing to participate in a peaceful act of civil disobedience are encouraged to attend workshops in Ottawa on Sept. 25th. City of Kitchener wins award for linking storm water fees to impervious surface useHonourable Rick Bartolucci, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Peter Hume, immediate Past President of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO), and Pat Vanini, AMO Executive Director, presented a P.J. Marshall Plaque Award to the city for an innovative program, launched earlier this year, that transferred storm water management funding from property taxes to a user-fee program based on the amount of impervious area on a property.  http://www.kitchener.ca/en/newslist/index.aspx
