Hi folks
Here are details re: Via Trains vs. Go Trains
With Via rail a one way trip from Kitchener to Toronto Union Station is $35.00 normal fare but with Go trains, a one way trip from Kitchener to Union Station will take 2 hours and cost $14.60 one way normal fare, same as current bus fares. A one way trip to Guelph is $11.70.
With Go a round-trip from Kitchener to Toronto would cost $29.20. From Guelph it would cost $23.40 normal fare but fares are reduced with discount tickets. A monthly pass for Kitchener/Toronto costs $482 and from a monthly pass from Kit/Guelph costs $386 making it a viable option for university students and business folks to go car free. The pass is a tax deductible credit. http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/transitpass/
Currently scheduled, they'll have two trains departing each morning, Monday to Friday and two trains will return in the afternoon and evening. There’s no weekend service scheduled yet.

Thanks, Lulu.
I'm confused - how are GO trains any different from VIA Rail?
How can folks get to the airport or to Mississauga and Brampton?
And do we lose our existing GO bus service from UW to Square One?
