Hi Susan,

            I am glad that you graciously acknowledged the dangers of
defining ourselves by a single political party. Limits can easily be self
limiting when in the world today most environmental challenges need to be
perceived as all inclusive in order to address solutions.          

However, another party is timely & I would definitely celebrate Elizabeth
May as a long standing, courageous woman who with very few resources has
shown the heart of a leader & the soul of an environmentalists in the face
of many obstacles. Green Party status should definitely be a May event this
spring.

Hi GRENers,

Linette and I would like to organize a fundraising dance, potluck munchies
and silent auction of regifted, barely and/or unused items. I know some
people have  issues with GREN "associating" with a political party, but how
about this? 

 

Elizabeth May's election is a  huge victory for all Canadians, not just the
Green Party, and that deserves to be celebrated. I propose that we organize
the dance jointly and split proceeds with the local Greens. 

 

This item was missed on the agenda at the last GREN meeting, so please
respond ASAP because I'd prefer to have the dance in June. The other one we
organized was Friday June 12, 2009 at the Waterloo Legion on Regina St. and
we netted close to $800 I believe, charging $10 ticket. I have a call into
the Legion to see if there are any dates available.
