process, and even remain involved!

Who Will be Participating?

No matter what your immediate concerns – such as food, water, energy,
poverty, health, education, pollution, natural areas, development plans, or
transport - the whole community is invited to come together and look through
the resilient communities lens, which can lend power and effectiveness to
everyone’s work and care.

What Will Happen?

This is a participatory event, and we are the resources in the room. The
three forum days (falling on the three Saturdays of April 2, May 7, June 18)
are just the tip of the iceberg of what can unfold when we put our heads,
hearts and voices together in truly collaborative forms of dialogue and
inquiry with some knowledge-building support of stimulating short
presentations. Through this, we aim to do ‘Big Picture’ thinking about our
future and how to empower ourselves and our communities for transition into
that future.

To get a taste of what we are talking about, listen to Seth Godin’s TED Talk
on the power of leading movements at

We’ll be using powerful forms of dialogue, conversation and inquiry (world
café, conversation café, open space) that can create transformative
possibilities themselves. See www.resilientwaterloo.ca

people have experienced working within them. We will use them to unlock the
resources in the room and in the community so we can look together at

*	What personal and community-wide strategies can serve our
communities so they will be best prepared and resilient in the face of the
threats, risks, and opportunities that we face?

*	How would we go about implementing them in the communities we care
about?

*	In what way could we implement them in Waterloo as a community in
which to begin?

*	How will these strategies serve us all in the different and various
areas of particular concern and knowledge and desire for change-making that
each of us brings?

*	What are the next steps for those who want to take them?

"An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow
confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all
humanity.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.
