[All] Power Point: on Highland Quarry

Hi folks
I'll be speaking with Waterloo's Ecological Advisory Council regarding the proposed Highland Quarry in Melancthon.
The power point is in the attachments. I tried to show both the localized and broader scope issues for onsite, impacts here and impacts downstream affecting Erie.
In the late 1980's the US Army Corp did a study on the Ogallala seeing if it would be viable to pull water from the Great Lakes to refill it. They scrapped the idea basically because it could literally drain the lakes. Political hot potato to say the least.
I can't help wondering if perhaps this quarry is being used to augment hydrogeology to bump up volumes heading either to Erie or the Ogallala. What happens if more water goes south than north as a result of this project?  I believe there is a place in Wisconsin where the spring thaw volumes overwhelm their local dams introducing Lake Erie water into the subwatersheds to the south currently. This community is exempt from diversion legislation as a result.  This quarry may act as a means to increase those water volumes without overtly indicating that this is a diversion scheme.
Either way in my view, the IJC must get involved with this project ASAP and I would like GREN to help facilitate a written correspondence to ask for that if possible.
