[All] Impacts of gravel pits on Karst

Hi folks
The US Geological Survey prepared a report regarding the impacts of Quarries on Karst formations. Pretty eye opening impacts including the harm of underwater communities, sink holes etc. It's a great report that packs a serious punch in terms of giving an honest view on adverse impacts which is probably why it wasn't officially endorsed. :0)  
None the less I relayed this info to our local Source Water Protection Committee because this is exactly the sorts of risks we face locally and in Melancthon in regards to the Highland Quarry.
Also, time for a shameless plug: I'll be speaking at the next Ignite event at Whistle Bear on June 15th speaking about Quarries and the Waterloo Moraine. I'll be one of several speakers giving the presentation in a "Ted Talk format" aka slides and  quick 5 talk.
