Alarmingly huge sediment loadings heading into Lake Erie were captured by two teams working for NASA using MODIS imaging. This image was taken on May 9th, 2011. 
Sediment loading from the Grand River can be observed towards the upper right section of the the photo half way between long point and Niagara falls. I suspect some of the sediment volumes may not be as visible since this is near the deeper portions of the lake.

With the massive nutrient loads it is beyond me how the Region and province can reasonably state this will be a viable water supply.
