Dear Prime Minster and respective ministers
Below is the information from the GRCA that arrived today confirming the fact that there are indeed two boundary maps for the Grand River Watershed and that the second map was crafted by the Provincial MNR staff. (No mention to clairify if the MOE was involved or not)
The other map was crafted from the GRCA's own data.
The MNR is both a regulator and promoter of aggregate extractions in Ontario and clearly
they have participated in creating the delineation of the watershed. I am concerned that this conflict of interest will pose an industry bias that places our water resources at risk.
Both maps were referred in the Highland Data and are still being used by the GRCA. This is creating confusion for the public. They are stating the Quarry is totally outside of our watershed but is this scientifically factual?
If anyone can tell me which map is the true watershed, based on actual science, not industry bias, I'd appreciate that.
We are the largest region dependent on
groundwater. Please help the public to access the correct scientific data so we can adequately work to protect this resource without the confusion.
In the views of provincial and federal officials, is the Highland Quarry located in sections of the Grand River Watershed or not?. If someone could provide me with that information I would greatly appreciate it.
below is the email from the GRCA for your reference.

Hi Louisette,
The work of developing the new watershed boundary maps was done by conservation authority and provincial (MNR) staff.
For our watershed boundary, the data used was our own.
Though I appreciate your intense interest in this matter, I don’t think there’s anything else I can say on it without repeating myself, so I hope we can now
consider this dialogue concluded.
