As Ginny and Sandra have so well explained, it is not appropriate to have
GREN¹s name attached to this. Therefore, as chair of GREN, I have to inform
you that you do not have GREN-approval to use our name for this matter.
I admire your passion, but I urge you to make sure of what you are getting
into. The legal implications of your getting arrested as an alien can be
quite different for you from other people demonstrating there. In the time
that I lived in Berkeley, California, during the late 60s, I was heavily
involved in anti-war activities and in organizing civil disobedience
activities. But my friends and colleagues were very careful to make sure
that I was never in the frontlines because of the implications for me as a
foreigner.
