Subject: RE: FINAL DAY OF THE WALK TO STOP THE QUARRY TOMORROW
The First Nations Walk to Stop the Quarry has been remarkable.
First day: a crowd of 200 at Queen's Park on Earth Day, Friday April 22
Second day: LONG hot day across the 401, through Brampton and ending north of
Brampton at Victoria with the core group of walkers-35 KILOMETRES THAT DAY.
Third day-Easter Sunday: Press and support picks up, the chicken mascot
arrives, and arriving in Orangeville they have a big group. They are
overwhelmed by food and offers of money for gas.
Fourth day: About 40 walkers when they arrive in Shelburne. News coverage on
almost every major station. Easter Dinner enjoyed with overnight
accommodations at UniCamp.
FIFTH AND FINAL DAY tomorrow:
The organizers state they will be leaving the intersection of County Road 124
and 89 at Shelburne (No Frills intersection) at 8:30 am
They plan to arrive at Marian and Jim Blacks farm about 4 km north of Hornings
Mills by 1-2 pm
Speeches, media, etc. to follow
Potluck at 4
Dale Goldhawk stated on his show that he would be there.
Please join for the last leg of the walk or at the very least, come to the
Black farm with a dish for the potluck and help us thank the walkers for their
extraordinary effort in successfully raising the profile of this issue
