Hi folks

Bob Vrbanic confirmed the Chronicle will be publishing my letter to the editor titled Save the Aquifer: Say no to fluoride. Here's a sneak peak below if your curious.

Fluoride is recognized as being an activator chemical that has the potential to increase the toxicity of other chemicals exposed to it. For example, the pesticide Round Up is a 2-4 D compound still widely used in agriculture and golf courses but when exposed to fluoride you end up with a far more toxic chemical called 2-4 DCP which can be fatal if absorbed through the skin.

Fluoridated water takes an ominous tone when one considers the chemical risks associated with leaking pipes, broken water mains or when the city regularly flushes out the system.  Legacy spills and fluoride should never mix and with the pesticide runoffs in the Grand we really need to take care of what we put in it.

I do not find it morally or ethically correct to allow one municipality to have a vote which could risk the long term security of our shared regional water resources but none the less, the choice is Waterloo's to make during the upcoming election.

As the largest region in Canada dependent on ground source drinking water it is my sincere hope that Waterloo residents will take the time to vote and say no to fluoridated water in order to protect and preserve our shared water resources for the long term.
