Explore Waterloo - Envisioning a Greener Future!
Saturday October 16th,
1 pm to 3pm Waterloo Town Square
Climate Action Project, a WPIRG (Waterloo Public Interest Research Group) action group, will be hosting a free event in Waterloo Town Square from 1 to 3pm. Join us and envision our city as a greener and more sustainable place. The event will consist of a short walk around Uptown Waterloo, creating visual symbols in places where trees could be planted, walking could be encouraged, and solar panels could be installed. All are welcome!
This event joins 7300 rallies and demonstrations in 181 countries as part of 350.org's Global Work Party, an international movement of global citizens united against climate change. Together we are working to bring our carbon emissions down to 350 parts per million CO2 in the atmosphere, an amount scientists say is the safe upper limit. Currently, there are 392 parts per million, and this number is increasing by about 2 parts per million each year.
Let's imagine what our community could look like if we took steps to work toward this achievable goal.
