Subject: Fwd: contact information for Waterloo Region Environmental Network
Study & Green Book
Hello Susan and John,
Thanks for having me at the meeting yesterday and giving me a chance to
present our research and the green book idea.
Please see the email from Manuel Riemer below regarding organizations and
contact information.
Also, I will follow up with Manuel regarding the question of "reference
people/mavericks" and will contact individuals of the group if I have
questions.
For now, please forward the email including the excel sheet as you see fit
to members of GREN in order for us to get a list of organizations that is as
complete as possible.
Regards,
Felix
Subject: contact information for Waterloo Region Environmental Network Study
& Green Book
Dear Environmental Organizations and Activists in Waterloo Region,
Over the past couple of years, many of the environmental organizations and
activists in the Waterloo Region have expressed an interest in strengthening
collaborations with other organizations and potentially developing a formal
coalition or network in order to be more effective. Now, we are taking a
step into that direction and need your support.
There are two exiting developments. First, the Community, Environment, and
Justice Research Group (CIJRG) at Wilfrid Laurier University is conducting a
study that will take advantage of a tool that has been recommended by
scholars and community organizers as useful for developing effective
networks, called Social Network Analysis. The main goal of this study is to
assess the level of collaboration among local environmental organizations
and to identify the usefulness of this tool for developing a formal
environmental network within this region.
The second development is the creation of a Green Book, an easily accessible
and searchable online database that will list all the environmental
organizations and groups in the Waterloo Region. We are convinced that both
aspects will have very positive effects on local environmental
organizations.
Clearly, for both initiatives it is critical to have a list of environmental
organizations and groups in this region that is as complete as possible.
This is where we need your help! We are seeking your assistance in
identifying local environmental organizations to be included in the study
and in the Green Book. It should take only about 5-10 minutes of your time.
Please review the 4 different sheets in the attached excel document. The
first sheet identifies the steps and inclusion criteria. The second sheet
asks you to review the existing list and add organizations and/or their
contact information. The third sheet provides you with an overview of the
categories and subcategories that might help you to think of environmental
organization that should be included. Finally, on the last sheet, please
identify other individuals who you think should provide us with information.
There are three ways to provide feedback:
1) You can add information to the excel file and email it to Felix Munger
at
mung1340 at mylaurier.ca;
2) You can simply reply to this email with your suggestions; or
3) You can simply forward any existing relevant list(s) that you may have
to mung1340 at mylaurier.ca.
Please send your feedback by November 27, 2010. Please email us with any
questions or concerns.
Thank you and regards,
Manuel
