[All] Quick update: West Side Lands

Hi folks

Things are moving really fast now.

I've got an interview scheduled with Bob V. of the Waterloo Chronicle regarding the West Side Lands OMB issues which will take place this week.

I've got a meeting with City Council in January to raise the topic of extending the power of the Integrity Commissioner to review staff conduct in order to facilitate a localized and affordable means towards conflict resolution. The documents have been submitted as of today. I've told council members if established, this could secure a cost effective means to secure a third party review of the West Side Lands issue outside of the courts. If approved this system could be implemented province wide with Waterloo being the first working example of the extended powers. That would be an excellent resource for both the public and municipalities to access. 

The Ontario Ombudsman recommended I submit the concerns regarding the lack of enforcement to OMB rulings to the MMAH by way of the PPS review process and that concern has already been submitted. Hopefully the letter today will flag to key people the fact that ours is a great case example to show the need for such policies.

Even though the OMB process didn't work out as planned, I'll do my best to turn this thing around to facilitate a greater good not only for our community but for the citizens of the province so we can prevent this situation from repeating.
