Hello Council Members
 
In the attachment is the Power Point I presented to Kitchener City Council for your reference.
 
There has been press lately on the fact that Canada does not have a lot of data regarding it's aquifer systems. This is not due to the fact we cannot adequately identify primary recharge but it is due mainly to the fact that the current data base regarding water volumes is using pre-development studies (usually paid for by developers) with little to no regard to data reflecting post development water levels. We really don't know how much we have left. For the link to the related study that supports this view see the Power Point.
 
Here is a web link to the 3-D mapping conducted by the Canadian Geological Survey which illustrates the aquifers in Waterloo Region. This data was originally provided to me by Dr. Hazen Russell of the CGS during the West Side Lands OMB process. The technique used to secure this data is similar to the methods used to find oil deposits.

Also provided in the attachment is an informational poster provided to me by Mr. Russell. If there is an OMB process in regards to the Country Side Line, I strongly advise that regional staff contact either Mr. Russell or Andy Bajc to assist.
