Municipal Planning & Environment: Creating tomorrow's vision today.

Biosolid Master Plan Update
If your a supporter of composting toilets or perhaps biofuel recovery or you have concerns about the fact our sludge is being spread over top the recharge areas of our groundwater supply, now is the time to voice concerns. 
 
The Region of Waterloo's Biosolids Master Plan is being revised to meet the management needs for the next 20 years. They are looking for members willing to be on the stakeholder committee and seeking public input on ideas to promote environmentally sustainable and economically viable management strategies that can be maintained over the long term.  A master plan update mailing list is being established. If you would like to have notices regarding this matter or if you have ideas to share you can email Senior Project Engineer of Water Services José Bicudo at jbicudo at regionofwaterloo.ca  To learn more visit www.region.waterloo.on.ca/water click on Wastewater services than Biosolids Masterplan.
 
MUNICIPAL MEETINGS
 
Monday February 22nd 
Waterloo City Council Chambers will vote on the wording for the revised Amalgamation question and discuss whether or not a ballot is even needed. The meeting begins at 6:30 and the public can register as delegates by calling:  519-747-8549. If you can't make the meeting, at least have a say in the issue by dropping a quick email to your ward rep to express your views. Tuesday March 9th: Fluoride vs. fluorosilicic acid
The wording of the ballot regarding Fluoridation will be discussed and voted on by Regional Council in Council in Council Chambers located at 150 Fredrick Street. The meeting starts at 6pm.  Delegates can register by calling 519-575-4420  or by dropping a quick email to the clerk at regionaclerk at region.waterloo.on.ca. Again if you can't make the meeting but would like to have a say on the matter, you can contact all Regional Council members by email sent to mcolleen at region.waterloo.on.ca

March 23rd : West Side Lands OMB hearing 
The meeting begins at 11am in Waterloo City Council Chambers. From what the OMB have told me the developers are seeking approval for the Subdivisions at the OMB bypassing the region's ability to have the final say on the matter. I am in discussion with my experts and seeking the related reports by City Staff. I'll keep you updated.
