CANADA RANKS POORLY IN INTERNATIONAL COMPARISON
Globally, Canada ranks poorly in C02 reduction and protection of biodiversity & fisheries:

Major Win in the Supreme Court for Environment
in British Columbia, the Court ruled that the federal government cannot split projects into artificially small parts to avoid rigorous environmental assessments. The ruling also guarantees that the public will be consulted about major industrial projects, including large metal mines and tar sands developments

The City of Waterloo has the draft revised Environmental Strategic Plan on line. After you've read the report you can fill out the response questionnaire to share your views.  The deadline for public comment is March 17th so please spread the word!

The State of Parliamentary Democracy : Public Lecture
7:30pm, War Memorial Hall, University of Guelph Guelph, Ontario 
Dr. C.E.S. Franks, Canada’s preeminent scholar on parliamentary process has been quoted extensively in national news stories and commentaries on the prorogation of parliament. He is a professor emeritus at Queen’s University in the Department of Political Studies and the School of Physical and Health Education and has written many books, including The Parliament of Canada, and Dissent and the State.  In 2002, Professor Franks was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for his contributions to the understanding of parliamentary government in Canada. 
The lecture is sponsored by the Council of Canadians-Guelph and co-sponsored by the Department of Political Science, Central Students Association University of Guelph and Fair Vote Canada
