Hi everyone
The Canadian Parliament is debating the Climate Change Accountability Act (Bill C-311). If passed, the Act would require whomever is in government to set science-based targets to fight global warming, and the government would have to implement a credible plan to meet those targets.
AVEZZ.org is initiating today's Global Climate change Day of Action. They are urging all Canadians to call their MP's and the following folks below to support the vote for Bill C-311.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper

I've personally spoken with the Prime Minister's Office and the Office of Jim Prentice today and pushed for support of the bill as well as a Waterloo Moraine Act. In my view it's morally reprensible to entice companies to invest millions setting up shop in a community who's water supply is in a state of crisis. We must foster growth towards areas that can reasonably and geologiocally support it.
Today at the U of W a climate change group run by Will Saunders of WPIRG, will meet at 4:30 pm at the Student Life Centre and a climate change event beginning here at 6:30.
There is a meditative walk at the intersection of Wideman Road and Wilmot Line along the Schenider's Woods starting at 7pm also for Climate Change organized by Mitra.
Today is also the International Day of Peace and at 7pm tonight you can join friends and neighbours at the 3rd annual Human Peace Sign at Victoria Park, Clocktower Kitchener 7pm. This year's festivities include aboriginal drummers and an open drum circle - byo drum. More info at www.nonviolencefestival.org or call Roger at 519-742-2565
Tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept 22nd, Maude Barlow will be giving a free lecture regarding water issues at the U of W's Federation Hall starting at 7pm. In 2008/2009 she served as Senior Advisor on Water to the president of the UN General Assembly and she is the national Chair Person for the Council of Canadians.
Later on, October 3rd we have the free GRCA openhouse at the GRCA administration centre located at 400 Clyde Rd. in Cambridge Ontario. The event takes place from 10am til 3pm as part of the GRCA's 75th anniversary. Staff and partners will be on hand to provide information for the public. There will be displays and guided tours showing the various aspects of the GRCA's work.
Have a good one folks.
