Hi everyone

Monday Sept 21 is the official day of the Global Wake Up Call designed to put the pressure on world leaders the day before the big UN meeting in New York.  In cities, towns and villages around the world, people will gather in public places with their neighbors and friends, not only to make some noise about climate change, but to flood world leaders with phone calls, letting them know that climate change is a challenge like no other and that the world is sounding an alarm and it's time to pay attention and wake up.

To call the Prime Minister Harper's office contact (613) 992-4211

In Waterloo it's Peter Braid MP
(519) 746-1573 (Local)
(613) 996-5928 (House of Commons)

and Elizabeth Witmer MPP
519-725-3477 (Local office)
416-325-1306 (Queen's Park)

Here are local actions taking place. We've got two events in Waterloo.

At the Multi Use room of the Student Life facility, WPIRG is having an event at 6:30pm hosted by William Saunders. Phone calls will be made to political leaders.

At 7pm there will be a silent meditative walk through the Schneiders woods that will last for approximately one hour. Folks will meet at the intersection of Wideman Road and Wilmot Line.

In Guelph there are two events happening. One takes place at 3pm located at the Bullring at the University of Guelph, hosted by Fiona Green. It is described as a "coffee and chat".

The second event takes place at the Fountain at St. George. Bring a green shirt to pull on as you approach the fountain - so people will seemingly appear out of nowhere! Bring something to make noise. This is hosted by Valerie Kwan

Also coming out on September 22nd is the world premier of the movie, "The Age of Stupid" which will be broadcast free across the world online as part of 350.org. It is the reflections of a man from the future who looks back to 2008 and wonders why on earth we didn't take action to curb climate change.

For more information about these events and others throughout the world, visit www.350.org/sept21

Night night!
