Hi folksThis comes to me by way of Environmental DefenceLulu :0)

The proposed law, called Bill C-6 or the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act
is essential for protecting our children from chemicals in harmful
products.  If passed, the Act will give the
federal government the power to remove unsafe products from store
shelves. The proposed law passed through the House of Commons
unanimously. Now, it's stalled in the Senate.

This is because
there are opponents of this Act who are waging an irresponsible campaign
that is giving wrong information to Senators. Opposition from some
sectors is so strong because this draft law gives Health Canada the ability to
deal with unsafe products. Some of the opponents' arguments against the proposed
law focus on natural health products, even though the Act will not affect that
sector.
To let Senators know you support the Canada Consumer Product Safety
Act visit this website and sign on to show support:

This much-needed law that ensures our Canadian consumer product
protection laws finally come in line with those of the European Union and the
United States, where a similar law was passed by former President George W.
Bush.

Canadians deserve the same public health protection as Europeans and Americans.
We don't want to become a dumping ground for products no longer eligible for
sale elsewhere.
