Hello Folks....We're BAAAACK from "The Rockie Mountain Train Ride" and Alaska Cruise and Victoria BC and San Francisco and San Diego and Las Vegas (we needed to visit our money from our last time there and were willing to make a contribution to their current economy) and I'm trying to 'catch up' on the environment . I forgot to ask my neighbours to keep ALL papers for me and they didn't do it when I didn't ask. I'm not sure what I missed ...what I should be aware of that perhaps I could have made a contribution to (I know...I'm not supposed to end a sentence with a preposition and the old Churchill solution...."That is something up with which I shall not put'. ) My how I loved that irrascible character.!!
Yvonne, thanks for writing our thanks to that loveable, irrascible Neil Taylor ( and his ever suffering Titia) and that strongly determined Gord Nichols ( and his also determined bride, Daphne) Keep it going forward....we are there with you Neil and Gord and Daphe. I will be at the Region's Open House Wed. 7th early .Ive been talking to Deb and she's been trying to fill me in on events and info but I'll have to make a few phone calls so I can attempt to make a somewhat intelligent contribution.
Kevin T. are you going that day??? or at a later date?? YOU could certainly fill me in on current status.
Things are a bit messy here on our return....needed a new Kitchen floor....just done....and the dishwasher bit the dust...being done on Monday. Always a REAL mess when it's the Kitchen or the bathroom....so the updating gets done in between cleaning sessions!!!
So, I'm back on line , and LULU, thank you for the updates on the many issues about which we all are concerned.GQ

  Hello Everyone,
Today's Record reported on the cancellation of the Snow dump at the Goodrich location which backs onto the Petrified Springs and is in very close proximity to Hidden Valley.
To read the article go to The Record's website: www.therecord.com
and look for the article on the front page by Terry Pender.
Below is the letter I wrote to Neil Taylor and Gord Nichols congratulating them on their hard work in pursuing this issue!

  Good morning Neil and Gord,
I had to write first thing this morning when I read about the cancellation of the snow dump! Hurray for both of you for working so hard on applying pressure to the appropriate agencies.
Neil, I know that you raised this earlier in the year and I am so pleased to see a small change in attitude at city hall.
Gord, despite what they say we all know that they are doing it because of the pressure from environmental activists! They just don't want the public to know this but hopefully they can read between the lines.
They are considering doing a major change to the stream bed of Strasburg Creek here in my area and I have been lobbying the city based on the environmental impact as well as the cost. It is slatted to cost $1.5M!! That is a huge cost for doing something that already works.
We all need to keep fighting together to apply pressure on the city and region to protect the countryside line especially when you read "because it was a wellhead protection area we had to do a lot of things to filter the snow".
Bringing in the concern about the Third Pipe line will hopefully impact any possibility of development on water recharge areas/wellhead protection areas!
Keep up the pressure and great work! have a wonderful day.
