[All] Reaching out for West Montrose

Hi folks
Sent this to the folks at PERL, Environmental Defence, CELA and the Ecojustice Law Clinic at the University of Ottawa. In the original email I included the power point for Capital Paving so I won't resend.
Basically, trends are repeating. We're seeing more of the same strategic oversights of data so I'm spreading the word.
If any of you know of damaging proposals in the works that fall under similar issues of these cases, circulate the power point and tell folks to customize it to fit their case. Others gave me their wisdom to share and this legacy should continue to empower others to fight for policy compliance. The more pre-vote presentations like this, the easier it will be should the need be there to review these matters collectively.
Should there be a need to execute a region or province wide audit or class action lawsuit in the future (in order to reasonably protect this community's water supply for generations to come) the foundation of that case must be made today with strong relevant documentation to show that our leaders knew of these concerns of policy non-compliance case after case after case.
It all comes down to three words: No plausible deniability.
Below is the letter I've sent.
Night night.

Hi everyone
A damaging Quarry in West Montrose is repeating the errors of Mount Nemo in Burlington and the West Side Lands in Waterloo Ontario. Stantec was involved with all three proposals, which all had the following traits with the brackets illustraiting the situation in West Montrose:
Too shallow bore hole data (7.8m and less. Water at 2-3m)
Poor Hydrological Info (No regard to seasonal flow and flow rates, temperature, impacts to adjacent lands or spring thaw)
Lack of Regard for rare species (2 Endangered Mollusks, 1 threatened fish)
Poor data (lack of weather data over the last decade, lack of regard for climate change trends)
Lack of compliance to PPS 2005 sections 2.1 to 2.6 and Endangered Species Act 2007
There has already been deaths associated with buggy/truck collisions in this proposed quarry area which features narrow dirt roadways. This quarry is meters away from a Mennonite school where the kids commute by walking. It's meters away from the last Kissing Bridge in Ontario. To view this alarming proposal that is literally putting the lives of Mennonites at risk, view the video at this web link: http://www.bridgekeepers.ca/
Since it appears the same mistakes in the EIS reports are repeating in Waterloo, Burlington and West Montrose, I'm hoping that by reaching out to you, we can help these people protect this area from this damaging quarry proposal and I'm hoping we can create some meaningful policy changes to protect us from the consistent errors were seeing in regards to matters like this.
I've secured OMB minutes of the meeting from the West Side Lands where the experts, including Stantec admitted the studies were insufficient to assess risk. If anyone needs this info just let me know. It would be great if we can use documents like this to create stronger testing criteria but I am unfamiliar with what agency to approach to facilitate this.
In the attachments is the information I've sent to Woolwich council regarding this proposal. Much of it was also reflected in what I've sent previously to the council in Halton Hills regarding Mt. Nemo Quarry Expansion. I send it to you for your reference.
Since there appears to be a trend of similar cases I give you full permission to relay the Power Point to other people as an example of what they can present to their councils if need be. The same issues keep popping up.
In the case of the Capital Paving Quarry Permit, the contact person for "Bridgekeepers" in West Montrose is "Lynne Hare" lchare at golden.net. Any information you can relay to help this group would be greatly appreciated.
If you would like to review the data regarding this proposal, the studies are on line here at:
www.woolwich.ca/en/newsevents/GravelPitApplications.asp
Currently Bridgekeepers is requesting a Heritage Landscape Designation for this area and if anyone in your respective group would like to support their efforts you can contact Woolwich Town Council by email at bmetzger at woolwich.ca.
Thank you all kindly for your time.
